President of Czech Academy of Sciences elected
Jiri Drahos, 59, expert in physical chemistry, was today elected president of the Czech Academy of Sciences (AV)
Drahos’s received 188 votes beating his rival candidate Eva Sykova, head of the AV Institute of Experimental Medicine, who was supported by 27 votes.
Drahos works in the AV’s Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals. He has been the Academy’s deputy chairman in charge of chemical sciences for three years.
Drahos has published over 60 scientific works that have been quoted some 600 times. He is a co-author of ten foreign and nine Czech patents.
